Inspired By My Son ~ An Interview With Ana Flores And #InspireCare

Latism13 Conference

I was so happy doing this interview with Ana Flores on behalf of Johnson and Johnson’s Inspire Care theme. I love how supportive Johnson and Johnson has been in all these years and being continually present in all our conferences and evolution in our growth in this blogging space. This was taken at Latism conference in September. You can see all the Tweets on the #InspireCare hashtag.

My biggest pride and joy this year has been being inspired by my son. He is in College and in the Leadership Program at FIU. Not only that, he is on the lead team of the leadership program and has spoken in front of hundreds of new students welcoming them to FIU.

Maria Celeste Shares How Leadership Is Standing Against All Odds

In this interview with Maria Celeste, I ask her what her definition of leadership is. Maria Celeste is a well known host of Telemundo’s, Al Rojo Vivo.

Two key points she said about leadership are:

  • Standing against all odds for what you believe.
  • Acting in a certain way that you believe even when no one around is looking.

Carlos Ponce On What Inspires Him

carlos_ponceCarlos Ponce is such a sweetheart. I had the opportunity of interviewing him and asking him what inspires him when I went to a happy hour at the Hilton Hotels where is is a spokesperson for Vacationitis. It actually is a cool campaign that diagnosis symptoms of people who don’t take vacations.

Hilton Hotels actually has research reports on the website for Vacationitis that reveals for example that Britons give more love to their jobs than their spouses. So, Carlos Ponce is here to cure this because, in his own words, he does not have any #Vacationitis. Once he gets immersed in a project, he also takes time to book a vacation far away to relax. …

Devious Maids With Latina Power and Talent

devious_maids

A few weeks ago, I attended the Devious Maids screening in South Beach. From the moment I started watching it, I got lost in the entertainment of the show and honestly, it made me laugh. I thought it was a fun and sassy show.

I had read some controversial stories prior to the event about why another “maid” story. Yes, it could have been called Devious Lawyers, but the twist in the show is that the characters are not portrayed as submissive and dumb. If anything, they appear smarter than the gringo characters.

I applaud the talent of the five Latinas played by Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace, Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Dania Ramirez (Entourage) , Judy Reyes (Scrubs) and Edy Ganem (Livin Loud).

I also can understand the perspective of what some bloggers have written based on their own personal stories. But I do believe since the show is now live and there are 5 Latinas in a major television network like Lifetime, we should support them. At the end of the day, if I thought the show was bad, Latina or non Latina cast, I wouldn’t watch it.
