What can I say about a woman who stands tall in spirit and born with Spina Bifida? She rocks!!!  She inspired me the day I met her with her beautiful smile and she keeps inspiring me every day as I see her passion in sharing not only her beautiful shining personality, but her cause that  is very dear to her heart. All around the planet throughout time, humanity always has created symbols that identify us in one form or another. That is what happens with family surnames.  For some people it may be a nightmare causing a negative effect in their lives. For others, a last name symbolizes tradition, distinction, elegance, power, dynasty, etc.

For this reason I would like to share with you today some of my thoughts and feelings about one of my symbols. I recently received an invitation to go to a social family gathering which, all of us who assisted, had a last name in common.

What is a mother? One who bears life.

I have been lucky to have been gifted with a mother who bore five children and who gave love equally to all of us. The name of this blog, Mi Caminar which means My Walk, came from her inspiration and was coincidently launched on her birthday.

The other day she brought me a tiny cotton shirt that I had worn as an infant. It was neatly folded and impeccably maintained….well except for one stain. She saved it with love after all these decades.

I am grateful for the unconditional love and nurturing my mom has given me. These past few years, we have shared many beautiful moments of sharing from the heart. I cherish each day I can hear her voice and know that she remains present in my life. …
