Latinos In The Forefront ~ Interview With David Chitel

David-Chitel
David Chitel, Founder NGLC

Latinos are getting great attention through the vision of David Chitel, founder of New Generation Latino Consortium. I recently interviewed David who also is Co-founder with John Leguizamo on Urbano TV. They are having a New Generation Latino Marketing and Entertainment Conference at the Harvard Club in New York on April 11th. The panel speakers are top of the line, including our very own Ana Flores, of Latina Bloggers Connect.

MC: Could you describe what a New Generation Latino is?

DC: There are so many different ways which the audience can be defined and therefore can get confusing to people and subsequently, for people to put together marketing programs that are geared towards them. In general, our demographic is anywhere from 14-34 years old from a media perspective and people who were born here in the US, or grew up here and have lived here for at least 15 years and are foreign born.

There are many commonalities and for the media perspective it is important to focus on those so people can assign budgets. That is what my organization is about, to bring clarity to that and help to make them actionable because it is too big of a segment of the market that gets so easily lost in the dust because it is not so easily defined just by status. It is more about culture and lifestyle. …

Definition of Leadership ~ An Empowered Woman With A Mission

What is the definition of leadership? Meet Monika Mantilla, a  Latina leader of Colombian descent going full force in a field dominated by men – global finance in New York. She is another  woman that I met at NHLI and is President & founder of Altura Capital Group.

Monika was one of the panelist on the topic titled, “Latinas on Corporate Boards and C-Suites: Why It Matters.” Women in general hold about 15% of Fortune 500 Board seats, but only 1% of these seats are held by Latina women.

Altura provides Institutional Investors with the strategic, investment advisory and research services they need to search, invest, and partner with emerging and diverse managers.

Monika was a consultant advising pension and endowment funds in the billions of dollars before she started her own company, Altura Capital Group.  She felt it was important to shed light on smaller emerging funds that consistently performed better than the larger ones and yet were not able to participate effectively. …

Leadership Style With Heart ~ Marisa Rivera-Albert

Version En Español

A few months ago, I was lucky to attend the National Hispanic Leadership Conference (NHLI)titled “The Latina Mosaic: Strength In Diversity”. One of the keynote speakers was Marisa Rivera-Albert. She is president of Mpowerment Works , a woman that, you will agree, after reading her bio is a true global change agent for women’s empowerment. She is a woman that speaks with a leadership style of power, wisdom and humbleness.  From my observation, she is a true giver. …

NHLI Conference – To Empower Latina Women

Version en Español

You know what a tweet does? It changes lives. Elianne Ramos aka @ergeekgoddess and Latism.org Vice-Chair sent me a link of the NHLI (National Hispana Leadership Institute) conference she was attending and speaking  in the hopes of maybe getting together afterwards. Well, my curious mind wanted to know more.  As I read the conference agenda brimming with talented women from every walk of life, I knew I wanted to attend….. and am so glad I did.  I actually volunteered to help them and ended up assisting them with their social media efforts (ie. live tweeting with pictures, video testimonials, etc.)

This year the conference celebrated The Latina Mosaic: Strength In Diversity, which highlighted how Latinas are changing the social fabric of the United States and how their leadership is creating a diverse America. …
